Cyber Security

"43 percent of cyber attacks target small business"

Cyber criminals don’t just target large corporations - they more frequently target smaller businesses on a more intense scale, exploiting any weaknesses in IT security, infrastructure and software.

Cyber Essentials + is a Government backed scheme that will help you to protect your organisation, whatever its size, against a whole range of the most common cyber attacks.

The Cyber Essentials+ certification process requires that there are five main technical controls in your company, and in order to pass the certification your organisation must meet all of the requirements:

The five key areas of Cyber Essentials + Accreditation include;

Firewalls- The barrier between a trusted & untrusted public network, a correctly configured firewall is essential when protecting your business.

Secure Configuration - Involves appropriately configured servers, desktop computers, laptop computers, tablets, mobile phones, printers, wireless access points, switches and routers. The aim is to reduce the level of inherent vulnerabilities and includes all points of access.

User Access Control - Staff accounts should have just enough access to software, settings, online services and device connectivity functions for them to perform their role. Extra permissions should only be given to those who need them. The management of user's access rights is part of the accreditation.

Malware Protection - Ensuring that adequate virus and malware protection is installed and is kept up to date.

Patch Management - Security Updates are an essential part of Cyber Security. Ensuring you have an acceptable patch management process is a mandatory requirement when seeking Cyber Essentials + accreditation.
