Microsoft Azure is an Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) and Platform as a Service (PaaS) that can be used to replace or supplement your on-premise servers. Advantages include speed and flexibility, minimised costs, performance, and reliability.

Do you plan to move everything into the cloud?

Migration Strategies

The most common is Rehost, Often referred to as a “lift-and-shift” migration. This option doesn’t require software changes, and lets you migrate your existing servers to Azure quickly. Each server is migrated as is, to reap the benefits of the cloud, without the risk and cost associated with code changes. Rehost is used…

When you need to move servers quickly to the cloud

When your software applications are architected so they can leverage Azure IaaS scalability

When you want to move a server without modifying it

When your servers are important to your business, but you don't need immediate changes to software capabilities

Microsoft Azure

Refactoring often referred to as “repackaging” requires minimal changes to software, so that they can connect to Azure PaaS, and use cloud offerings. For example, you could migrate existing software applications to Azure App Service or Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS). Or, you could refactor relational and non-relational databases into options such as Azure SQL Database Managed Instance, Azure Database for MySQL, Azure Database for PostgreSQL, and Azure Cosmos DB.
