Cloud computing is an on-demand computing service that delivers a lot of beneficial factors to your business over the Internet. Some of the benefits include: analytics, storage, networking and database.

A huge advantage of using cloud computing is that these services allow your business to have the resources to scale and innovate, allowing your business to have the space to grow.

Another great benefit of cloud computing is that you can tailor it to your business and scale back as many services as you want to suit your budget and current needs.

Different types of cloud services:

Software as a Service (SaaS)

This is one of the most common types of cloud computing that is being utilised today. It works on a subscription basis that allows for you to use its services. With this type of cloud computing, your infrastructure is hosted and managed for you and any maintenance or security patches will be updated by a third-party source.

SaaS requires minimal effort and input from you which makes it ideal for bigger businesses that want their application to run smoothly without the hassle of having to manage it. You are also able to access SaaS through any device which makes it really versatile compared to other cloud services.

Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS)

Unlike SaaS, IaaS is one of the main components of computing which can be rented (physically or virtually) and it also provides storage and networking (1). This type of cloud computing service tends to be used by businesses that are looking to on-premise maintain their IT infrastructure which can be costly and labour intense.

IaaS also is a great option for businesses that are looking to build their own infrastructure and be in control of all elements to do with this computing service. However, IaaS does require you to have adequate knowledge of it and present the right set of skills in order to be able to manage this service.

Platform as a Service (PaaS)

The biggest difference between PaaS and other cloud computing services is that your business has the least control over all of the different services. Normally your business is able to manage the data and application side of PaaS and the rest is looked after for you within this service.

PaaS tends to be primarily used by developers that are looking to build a software or application rather than just conduct maintenance.
