At the beginning of the week, Microsoft announced a new Azure Security Lab for cybersecurity professionals to take advantage of. So, what’s it all about?

Most importantly, it’s worth knowing that the environment is completely isolated from the main Azure framework. This effectively negates hacking attempts and provides optimal functionality. Microsoft’s internal team of cybersecurity experts will be able to work with researchers for the benefit of all.

Microsoft has boldly invited participants to come in and do their best attempts. The lab will not only allow them to study potential vulnerabilities in Azure, but also attempt to make full use of them. All done, of course, in a safe and controlled environment.

If you want to put your hacking skills to the test, Microsoft financial rewards for success could be as much as £250,000. The Microsoft Azure bounty program is another excellent way to earn with potential pay-outs of up to £33,500 for serious Azure vulnerability reports. Have you got what it takes?

What the above does highlight is just how serious Organisations are now taking security. In a nutshell Microsoft have decided that it is better to pay ethical hackers who identify potential risks rather than have criminals exploit them. This is actually a common practise for most large businesses. This is because  they can afford to pay for more complex tests of network security. An example of this is penetration testing. However, smaller companies would benefit largely from services such as pen testing as a cyber attack can be targeted at anyone.  Click here to learn more about network security services we can do at Solutions 4 IT.
