Once in a while, a city university will bring innovation to their local area by creating projects that bring lots of investment with it too. This time, this innovation is coming our way from the University of Gloucester.

They’re teaming up with CyNam, so buckle up because this has enabled the university to roll out a shiny new cyber and computing facility at the Park Campus, with a hefty price tag of £5.8 million! If anyone’s looking to take a tech-related course at this place, you’re in luck.

First Off, Who’s CyNam?!

As stated on their site, the primary aim for CyNam is to provide the capability, community and culture to help set small companies on the path towards success.

They’re based in Cheltenham, and provide their expertise to the county of Gloucestershire. CyNam (Cyber Cheltenham) began as a modest Meetup networking group in 2015, for members of the region’s cyber security community. Since those years, CyNam has racked up the recruits, to an impressive number of over 4900 members.

To add to their portfolio, CyNam ensures that all profits are invested back into developing even greater value for Cheltenham’s cyber technology community. Meaning, they’re a funded non-profit organisation.

This collaboration means business. CyNam, alongside some esteemed tech partners, is lending its expertise to design this cutting-edge space. Imagine a cyber control centre, a virtual reality hub, a digital lounge, and top-of-the-line teaching facilities, all kitted out with the latest gadgets.

But wait, there’s more! This isn’t just about flashy tech. It’s about providing students with invaluable industry exposure and hands-on experience. The ultimate goal? Fleshing out graduates with the know-how to excel in the cyber industry.

Chris Dunning-Walton, the mastermind behind CyNam, is positively thrilled about this partnership. He’s all about turbocharging networking and innovation in our locale.
