Atos has announced a £10 million investment to boost the UK’s digital infrastructure with two new technology centres opening in the Midlands.
The Sovereign Orchestration Hub in Birmingham and the Digital Agentic Centre in Nottingham will focus on strengthening regional capabilities in AI, automation, and digital resilience.
The Birmingham hub will handle secure monitoring and management of digital systems, helping UK organisations maintain full control over their tech operations.
Meanwhile, the Nottingham centre will lead on AI and automation development, driving improvements in efficiency, reliability, and productivity across industries.
As part of the plan, Atos is expanding its graduate and apprenticeship programmes in the Midlands. Around 50 new roles are expected in 2026 across areas like AI, cybersecurity, cloud computing, and data analytics — all aimed at growing a strong local digital workforce.
Michael Herron, Head of Atos UK&I, said:
“My vision is one where humans and AI can coexist together. We must reimagine what a career pathway will look like in the age of AI and offer a multi-faceted, future-proofed career in the digital arena.”
He added that these new centres will deliver resilience, control, and end-to-end visibility for clients while nurturing the next generation of local tech talent.
Claire Ward, Mayor of the East Midlands, also welcomed the news, calling it “hugely exciting” for the region. She added that Atos’ investment supports her East Midlands Growth Plan, helping boost jobs, innovation, and business resilience across the area.
